Before joining Kognitiv, I found myself at a large consulting firm, completely burned out just one year in. Coming from the client side, where I had implemented Workday Student, I had the privilege of focusing on a single implementation. This allowed me to ensure the best configuration, troubleshoot problems effectively and provide comprehensive support both during and after go-live.
In my previous consulting role, I was stretched thin across multiple implementations simultaneously and constantly felt like I didn’t have the time to provide the quality and attention my clients deserved. I was often told I was "doing too much" for clients—providing training I "shouldn’t" be offering or documentation that was "beyond the scope." This was a struggle for me, as I pride myself on delivering high-quality work and attention to detail. I believe that training clients is a crucial part of a successful Workday Student implementation, but I quickly realized that such services were not always prioritized.
Beyond the workload, I also felt lost in my previous consulting role. My background is in higher education, specifically small to mid-sized institutions and non-profits, where collaboration and a sense of ownership are key. I missed that sense of family, the ability to truly own my work and the flexibility to provide services in a way that aligned with my values.
That’s where Kognitiv came in and changed everything for me. The founders and consultants here truly live and breathe Workday. We don’t just help clients configure and optimize their tenants—we ensure they have the best possible Workday experience by helping them understand how to maintain their own system. As a consultant at Kognitiv, I have the opportunity to provide advisory services for Workday Student implementations, assisting with decision-making, creating job aids and training staff to ensure they are fully prepared for go-live.
Kognitiv values retaining the best talent and fostering an environment where employees are engaged, challenged and empowered. Here, I truly feel like an owner. I have the freedom to provide high-quality services to clients throughout implementation and post-production, and the ability to develop custom solutions to address existing Workday challenges.Another aspect that drew me to Kognitiv is their approach to consulting services. Having experienced Workday implementations both as a client and consultant, I quickly realized how expensive traditional consulting can be, with rigid contracts and minimum spend requirements.
At Kognitiv, services are strictly pay-as-you-go—no long-term contracts, no minimum spends, no wasted hours. This transparency and flexibility is a real differentiator for clients, and I love knowing that the work I do provides real value without unnecessary financial commitments.
