A story of a young professional who has just exited college and landed their first role in the Workday ecosystem.

Remember when you were little and were scared to ride that big roller coaster for the first time? You would stare at it, contemplate going on, talk yourself out of it, then into it, and then finally muster the courage to get on? It’s a scary choice, but once you get on and it starts going, you feel thrill and excitement! And once it’s over comes the rewarding feeling, the feeling of pride and accomplishment.

Entering the workforce, changing careers, or trying something new can often bring back those same feelings of big scary roller coasters when we were kids. A key factor in getting on the roller coaster and feeling that sense of reward is landing a great fitting role at a stellar company. For new grads, having a workplace that invests in you, furthers your growth, and advances your career is essential to growing personally and professionally, and Kognitiv Inc.’s Associate Business Consultant program is exemplary of these qualities.

I started at Kognitiv after graduating from college, having a degree in Business Management, little experience with People Operations work, and no experience in information systems or Workday configuration. During my interview process, I was shocked that I was never asked about my prior Workday experience or knowledge; they were more interested in getting to know me, my character, my values in the workplace, and my thought process and problem solving skills. It quickly became clear to me that they weren’t hiring someone who could just do the job, they were looking for someone who was a right fit for the team and company. I knew this was the right place for me.

Since starting at Kognitiv, these values have shown through in every bit of my work. Kognitiv values me as an employee and actively takes interest in my career growth and professional development. I am working for a company that invests in me, that allows me to step into my work every day, and enables me to be ready to take on what’s ahead of me and be able to feel good about the work I am doing. This is how Kognitiv accomplishes its mission of developing talent and building a business model that is driven by ideas, not bureaucracy.

My workday (pun intended!) looks different every day, but there are a few things that I can count on happening on a regular basis: collaborating with fellow Koggers to troubleshoot and problem-solve, team meetings filled with laughs and partnership, and someone always (and I mean always) ready to jump in and help when I get stuck.

It’s easy for successful companies to soon start prioritizing numbers over people, but not here at Kog. Kognitiv leadership consistently emboldens the minds of employees company-wide by encouraging ownership over our own work, investing in our careers, and empowering us as people. Kognitiv makes it easy to get on that big scary roller coaster for the first time by encouraging employees to take on new challenges and methods of problem solving, while providing all the safety measures they need to be successful. The excitement of new and unique problems and coming up with creative configuration solutions to support my clients makes this job fulfilling. I couldn’t think of a better place to start my career in the Workday ecosystem than at Kognitiv Inc.
