Vanessa Barbeau shares her enthusiasm for attending her first Workday Regional User Group Meeting in Quebec, representing Kognitiv and co-sponsoring the event. Despite initial uncertainty, her experience was rewarding, filled with valuable interactions. She emphasizes the significance of in-person connections, despite her preference for remote work, and eagerly anticipates future events for continued face-to-face engagement.

Guess what? It finally happened! I had the incredible opportunity to attend my very first Workday Regional User Group Meeting, and to top it off, it took place right here in my home province of Quebec.

As a proud member of the Kognitiv team for over a year, I hold the distinction of being their inaugural employee based in Quebec. This made participating in our local RUG event all the more meaningful to me—not just as a representative of Kognitiv, but also as an enthusiastic member of the Workday community.

To add an extra layer of excitement, we decided to co-sponsor the event. It felt like the perfect occasion to introduce both myself and our organization to the Workday community in Quebec.

In the days leading up to the event, I embarked on a road trip to Kognitiv HQ in Boston to pick up some swag. I was determined to ensure that everything was perfect for our local RUG debut.

While my colleagues had shared stories of their experiences at RUGs across the US and Canada, I had no idea what to expect. Much to my delight, it turned out to be an amazing experience filled with engaging conversations and valuable content. I was fortunate to have 3 colleagues attend the event with myself, one traveled from New York, and the other 2 are also fellow Quebecers. Attending as a team made such a great impact and allowed us to demonstrate our expertise and professionalism together.

Having spent the past year developing connections in Quebec, it was gratifying to finally meet face-to-face, shake hands, and establish new connections.

Despite my love for remote work, I was reminded of the irreplaceable value of human connection. It allows for deeper relationships, a better understanding of clients' operational reality, and, of course, the effortless building of rapport.

I'm eagerly anticipating the next RUG event—bring it on!
